It’s been months (almost a year!) since I’ve done anything project life related. As sad as it is, I guess life just happens and I didn’t have time to document it. But I really missed it. The creative process, the finished pages capturing our daily life. I love going through the old pages with kids and bringing the memories back. The time has come and I set a goal for myself to get back to memory keeping.
My friend Harmony has decided to jump back into the creative life as well so we support each other this way. I really admire her determination as she is catching up with old spreads. I don’t think I will be able time-wise to go back and finish all the missing pages. For now I’m happy with just capturing the right now.
I’ve started fresh last week with the start of summer. Here is my first double spread capturing the last two weeks (well, two weekends to be exact).

I’ve been a huge fan of Liz’s work (also known as) Paislee Press for years. I love the look of her minimalistic designs and have been using her digital products since my early years of digital scrapbooking. My favorite paper project life kit is also from her – Midnight sun (the yellow and black filler cards). Lately I love using her digital templates which are easy to use and look amazing while printed out. I love that I can put several photos into one 4×6 inch photograph in seconds, print it out and be done with it. And the best part is that those can be used over and over again.
I also used old stash of cards from various sources (Studio Calico kits), printed out out some digital cards etc. I’ve fallen in love with acrylic stamps lately; I think the once used on this spread are by Elise and Kelly.
I’m really hoping that this time I will stick with it and continue documenting our everyday.

I’m a project starter.
The excitement of a new project always gets me. Sadly, there are times (and lately it’s been quite often) when the project doesn’t get finished. Like my past two December Daily ones… The holiday season always gets so busy, I get sucked into the craziness and then I’m mad at myself that I haven’t finished documenting it all through photos and words.
Well, third time is a charm (right?). I’m giving this project another try and hopefully this time I will end up with an album full of beautiful memories. This (the photo above) is how my desk looked like on the weekend. I’m getting ready for December Daily in advance this year and hopefully this preparation will help me to finish this project. (You can read all about December Daily on Ali Edward’s blog). The photo is also my part of this week’s topic On my desk on Harmony’s and mine collaborative photoblog.
Products I will be using (among others I will come across during December):
Sn@p Album – got this one last year at Michaels during their sale for just $3.50, Sn@p pocket pages refills – various formats

Various products by Paislee Press available at the lilypad.com. I will be mixing it with more printed stuff from Liz’s digital products

Ali’s overlays (more of her brushes are still available over at designerdigitals). I have plenty of her old stuff which I will be using as overlays and wordarts on my photos.

And I will be also using other stuff from my personal stash.
I’m really excited to start. If you plan to do this project this year as well, please let me know. I would love to see how you document your holiday season.

project life – august

So, it’s official. My first PL spread after months of hiatus is finished. I’ve jumped right in into August. I’ve decided that I’m not going to stress out about getting back and finishing everything before starting fresh. If I have time, I will go back and if not, I’m totally ok with it. This project is mine and there are no rules so I’m not going to freak out and just let the “how it supposed to be” go.

We started August with traveling down to the states for Patrik’s cycling race. It was two days event full of excited kids and youth who share love for cycling.

On the second day after the race we did a little bit of exploring of Seattle’s downtown. Good times!

It feels good to be back in documenting our lives. I don’t plan to do spread every week, my plan is to highlight the “best” moments of our everyday life in the certain month. It can be a lot of photos from one day and then nothing for a week or maybe it will be more often. I’m not sure yet. I will go with the flow and enjoy the process.
Products used: Paislee Press @ the-lilypad – photo templates no.3, Presscards No.25, Studio Calico – July kit – Penny Arcade, Amy Tan – alphabet stamps, Thickers by American Crafts, Seafoam PL edition by Elise Cripe

Alice and I have known each other thanks to digital scrapbooking since around 2008. We “met” at Scrapartist.com; it was one of the first stores back then which carried digital scrapbooking stuff. Alice was also a member of my Creative team when I was designing. Although we have never met in a real life (and I hope one day we will!), we share a love of being creative and crafty and miss the early days of digital scrapbooking !
As both of us don’t create as often as we used to, we decided to challenge ourselves a little bit. We picked a layout (LO) from our Pinterest boards and tried to “lift” it which means we took someone’s layout as an inspiration and used similar design, products etc. We chose an amazing page by MelBlackburn called Here and Now which both of us pinned almost at the same time. You can find the original layout at the Studio Calico website.
And here is what we came up with.
Here is Alice’s page called The New Me. I’ve always been a fan of Alice’s style, I love how she mixes brushes and patterns and her pages are always full of little details.
And here is my take on this challenge.

I have to admit that it took me forever to decide what color I will go for the background with. I started with two papers but at the end went just with the white one. I guess it means I should create more often to get back into the easiness of designing a layout.
Feel free to join us if you feel like creating! Please leave a link in the comment section so we can leave you some love.
I can’t wait to do this challenge again soon!
Products used on my page (many of them are long time retired):
– Two Sisters Designs – Alphabet soup, Beauty marks
– Emily Powers – I am free, Puddle Jumper (brackets), Blossom nation
– Karla Dudley – blog hop freebie (background paper), Digi Essentials no. 1
– Paislee Press – Presslines no. 7, Say YES to,
– Amber Clegg – Date stamps
– Alice’s brush – cross

I’ve been checking our mailbox for a few days now and finally this little box has just arrived today. I felt like a little kid on a Christmas day while I was pulling the box out of our mailbox. I love all the stuff which is included and can’t wait to start putting my project life album together (once again after a loong break).
I will be also using Liz’s Midnight Edition and Elise’s Seafoam Edition together with printables from various designers and resources and plan on making my own journaling cards using digital stamps and brushes from my scrapbooking stash.

I’ve got these cute cards (free download) from Studio Calico this week and can’t wait to incorporate them into the album.
I am really excited to start fresh.
And I really think it is time to be awesome, don’t you think?

I barely remember the last time when I opened photoshop and created layout just because I felt like doing something creative.
Last week during our coffee date with Harmony we talked about passion and our creative minds and I told her that I haven’t been feeling creative lately at all. It’s like being in a funk and don’t know how to get out of it. We both agreed on doing some fun projects together in a future to keep the creativity flowing (stay tuned!) and to get inspired and most importantly – to get excited about the whole process of creating once again. I really needed this conversation with her, she is my dear friend and always knows how to lift my spirits. I’ve decided to explore the “almost forgotten” love of mine (memory keeping) once again and spent some time browsing pinterest this week to get my creative mojo going.
At the beginning of my “scrapping days” back in 2006, I had a few fellow scrapbookers whose work I admired so much and knew once I will be in a need for inspiration, I can browse their galleries to get some ideas for my layouts. I loved loved (and still do even though none of these ladies design or scrapbook any more) work of Two Sisters designs – Angela and Emily Powers. Their style of creativity was amazing. Their digital kits and layouts were always so fun and full of modern and eclectic elements and so many unexpected details. I took a few ideas of my favorite layouts of theirs and put together this page above called Do you remember? I dug my old stash of scrapbooking supplies and discovered so many goodies! (note to myself: dear me, please explore the archives of stash more often. You will love it!).
Well, I think after this experience, I will open the photoshop more often now.
Some of the supplies used (many of these supplies are long time retired): background paper is mine from Simple basics paper pack; Paislee Press – Chasing the Sun; Say Yes To; Two Sisters Designs – Artist canvas, Falling leaves; Emily Powers – Funky labels; Amber Clegg – stamped alpha; Emily Merritt – Painted on; Karla Dudley – Life Recorded, Digital Essentials

Friday! It’s finally here!! Even though it has been a short-working week this week, the four days seemed way too long. But the weekend is finally here! Let’s celebrate it with some inspiration.
:: who wouldn’t love to go to an ice-cream party? The invitation couldn’t be any cuter! I think I will incorporate the printables into my project life page
:: I ordered Penny Arcade Project life kit from Studio Calico this week to test it out. I can’t wait to receive it and play with it!

:: these little paper banners are so adorable. Such a cool idea!
:: Ali Edwards is creative genius. I love how she did her journaling on this photo

:: I love love this design of this layout with one big photo on the side. So awesome!
Can you tell that I really miss scrapbooking? I think it’s time to dust off the photoshop and get back to memory keeping…

Even though this little online corner of mine has been quite neglected for the last couple of days/weeks, it doesn’t mean that our everyday life is boring and that there is nothing to say about it. It’s the opposite.
Our days are full of fun, laughter, exercising and just spending time as a family together. Kids are out of school due to the teachers’ strike so the little ones are having extra two weeks of summer fun.
There are only 4 weeks left till my, Ivos’ and Patrik’s bike race/ride and 5 weeks until Ivo’s Ironman. Then things will finally slow down a little bit. It’s quite hectic over here lately but I wouldn’t change it at all.
This is how we live. And we are saying YES to life.
Note: wordart and background paper are by Paislee Press available at the-lilypad.com. Photos edited by various photoactions created by my four hens photography
