Kids of Steel – Whistler
May.
Well, all I can say is good-bye May, hello June.
June?! Already?! How?
May has been a month full of sport events and as fast as it came it will be gone just in a few hours. We had three weekends in row filled with triathlon events (this weekend is the last one). Talk about active life, right?!…. The first one was Patrik’s North Vancouver Kids of Steel, then Whistler’s Kids of Steel for both little ones and this weekend is Ivo’s half Ironman. It was really fun to see both kids racing together, but oh my, the logistics trying to catch both kids during the race were not easy at all. I will post some photos and more info about the races in the next couple of days.
Other than the racing, there is almost nothing new around here. We try to enjoy every single day to the fullest.
I’ve had a few exciting personal moments this month but for now I will keep it just for myself. I’ve been also working hard on getting into shape and trying to do my workouts on regular basis. I think I’m on a right track, I’ve lost a little bit of weight and don’t have as many sugar cravings as I had before. But it’s still a long journey to a self discipline for myself.
I’m also reading a book!! Like a real book! I so miss reading but since I’ve started commuting to work by car, I didn’t read a single book in almost 8 months! There is just not enough hours in a day to do everything I would love to do.
Hopefully we will have more sunny days in the upcoming weeks, I’m so ready for summer!
Good-bye, May. You were a good one.
How was yours?

In the last couple of days I’ve been asked by several people what kind of music I listen to. I don’t think I have a specific “style” but lately I’ve been listening to our local radio station Shore 104.3 a lot and I really love what they play. I also get so many laughs with their Joonyer & Hatch’s morning shows while driving to work. So it’s a double win – great music and good entertainment. I decided that this week’s five on friday list is going to be about my current favorite music.
Turn the volume up and enjoy!
:: Raging fire by Phillip Phillips
:: Heavy love by Serena Ryder
:: Come with me now by Kongos
:: Magic by Coldplay
:: Babel by Mumfords and Sons

It was his first swim in the lake of this season. there was nobody else swimming out there. he was alone in the water, surrounded just by the rhythm of his breaths and strokes.
This photo is a part of our weekly themes over at Focus on Everyday blog. The prompt for this week is alone. You can check out what Harmony came up with for this theme here.

Usually on stat holidays people sleep in. But not us. The alarm clock was set up to 5.15am yesterday morning and by 6 am we were leaving the house and headed to North Vancouver for Patrik’s second triathlon race of the season. It was a rainy morning but hundreds of athletes didn’t mind and started the day with a huge excitement anyway.

I love this photo Ivo took of Patrik just a few seconds before he jumped into the water for his swim. He looks so grown up on this photo. The volunteer was explaining the swim rules to the athletes.

I was waiting outside to catch him on his transition to bike.

He did this race last year as well (75m swim, 5km bike and 1 km run) and we could see such a huge improvement. His time this year was 19:45 comparing to 23:23 from 2013 and he took 2nd place this time!!

Congratulation, buddy! We are all so very proud of you! Love you!

Over here we are big fans of Bear Grylls. We’ve seen several of his shows and are always looking forward to watch some new adventures of his. Patrik really likes Bear’s survival bracelet so he decided to make his own version of it. Well, Patrik’s bracelet is mostly a fashion thing but I think if he would need an extra cord in the woods, this 7 feet long paracord would be handy as well.
Yesterday we went to Michaels to get the stuff he needed for it. He ended up with orange and gray paracord and a little pack of buckles.

Then he found this awesome and a very easy to follow video for a cobra design and we just followed it.

Within a few minutes the bracelet was done. It looks really cool, it’s easy to make and it might come handy during a hike. You never know when you might need an extra piece of a cord.

The most important thing is there is one happy boy.
